A free, three-and-a-half hour workshop on how to protect and enhance lake shore property will be presented at the Fabius Township Hall on Saturday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be a short break mid-way for refreshments supplied by the Barnes Law Office of Three Rivers, which is also underwriting other costs. Organized by the township’s Environmental and Wetlands Protection Advisory Committee, the workshop will provide ideas for creating attractive natural shorelines with flowering plants that attract butterflies, buffer strips that will keep geese off your lawn, and alternatives to hard shoreline structures.
The program will feature speakers from Michigan State University Extension, the Kalamazoo Nature Center, and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality as well as owners of two firms that specialize in native plants and restoring native landscapes.
Those planning to attend are asked to register by calling Dennis Bradley at 244-5742 or e-mailing email@example.com. More information is available at www.fabiustownship.org under recent posts.
